iPhone/Android etc?

So, I gotta say at least at the moment there seems to be more excitement in iPhone + Android land rather than Palm + PocketC...
I'd love to code custom apps on my handheld again, any chance of new products?

This is not possible on iPhone, due to SDK restrictions. I haven't looked into the Andriod platform.

I know it isn't even on the market yet, but what about Palm's new WebOS on the Palm Pre? They are touting it as designed for the developer.

Palm has currently only announced support for WebOS apps written in javascript + html + css. So although the Pre screenshots look gorgeous (though the videos make it look a little lethargic), it is currently only targeted at applications that are more like gadgets. Advanced gadgets hopefully, but certainly not compilers. If the WebOS creates a native API and they actually sell a decent number of phones, we would consider it.

What about the Android? It seems to be a more open platform. Ideally, you could use the NDK (Native Development Kit) to make a VM, but I'm not sure they would allow it, because NDK code is supposed to be tied to a Darvik app (coded in Java). Perhaps you could write a simple "Run these PocketC apps" application in the normal SDK (using Java), and write the VM in the NDK. I realize this may not be ideal, since the Apps won't appear as native apps, but it might be a start.

I just purchased an Android phone (Samsung Moment), and I would love port my Orbforms app (smallvue.com) to the android. Maybe I could help. I am a professional software developer - Java,C++, .NET. etc.

If not, I don't think I'll have that much trouble converting my Orbforms code to Android SDK code, but I really do like PocketC and Orbforms. With the classic palm market dwindling rapidly, perhaps the Android platform would offer a new path way.

Or maybe you have enough to do with other things, in which case I totally understand.
