Is there a way yet to determine the version of the files installed on the handheld memory?

if you want it in palm, then it is not yet possible, i guess...but you can try to open their databases to see...

Yes, I tried but generally it causes a reset. I hope this becomes availible soon.

I'm not sure if PTB can access resource databases, because if it could then you could read out the value of the "tver 1000" string.

The GETTSTR Fctl command will not work on version resources.

Some apps don't have a version resource, in that case the version info is embedded in the database's header and must be accessed via a different way. A native library function which accesses both version sources can be crafted in about 30 lines of code, probably less.
