I get the following windows dialogue if I run a B&W ROM.

PocketC (4.3.0rt) just read from memory location 0x000023FC, which is in the "attr" field of the form starting at 0x000023D2.

The data at this memory location is owned by the Form Manager. Applications should not access the data directly. Instead, they should make the appropriate Form Manager calls.

---
Any clues why this only happens on B&W Roms?
TIA

This is harmless. It's also not a B&W issue, it's a pre-OS3.5 issue. You won't see it occur in an OS3.5 monochrome rom.

The warning stems from some tricks I do get these earlier OS versions to behave like the later ones. My "patches" only get hit on when running with pre-OS3.5 systems. The emulator is barking about this to ensure that the app is OS5.0 compliant, but since the patch code will never be hit in OS5.0, there is no compatability issue.

See caveat #2 in the PToolbox documentation. Uncheck the "UIMgr Data Access" box in the emulator debug window and the warning will go away.

Thanks.

Quick Q.. Any idea why some of the colour ROMs have a pink background when they run? POSE bug?

PS: I can't test my program on some ROMs as the icon to launch it does not show up in the launcher on POSE for some ROMs.

I thinks that's their real color.

You need to create monochrome & grayscale icons too. See the PDE doc for more details.

Hmm.. I already have small and large icons for monochrome and colour.. maybe if you dont have a greyscale icon it wont show anything then.
If I test it on Monochrome ROMs (eg. palmos20-en-pro-dbg - PalmPilot) I can see the monochrome icon.
I shall go forth and maketh greyscale ones now!

Hmm.
I'm now using
//16 colours greyscale
@licon4 "icons/16grey.bmp";
//16 colours greyscale
@sicon4 "icons/sm2grey.bmp"

but none of the ROMs use the greyscale icon in the launcher heh :)

Anyhoo. I found out where they went.
If I load up my program and the icon isn't in the launcher, I need to open another program (eg Memopad) and when I exit that, the icon for my program automagickally appears in the launcher. Weird hey :)

Some of 3rd party launcher programs (I myself use launcherIII) allow you to enable grayscale in the launcher windows, such that the grayscale icons show. Most of these launchers support 2 bit gray, where a few, if any, support 4 bit gray.

Yeah, that's one of those wacky emulator artifacts. I generally keep the apps I use most frequently (PocketC, rsrcedit, handbase, pilot-db, etc) as part of the saved emulator session (just load them in and then use the "save" option). This way the apps are preloaded for you every time you pull up POSE.
