Hi, Hoe,

You comment in the documentation that using pilot-db is "fast" and 7 times faster than HanDBase. I am currently storing a lot of numeric data into standard Palm databases using the PocketC functions like dbwritex and so on. Would I see significant performance improvement by using pilot-db database type and your PToolBoxLib database functions??

Thanks

After having read this, I can't believe I let the typo on Joe's name get past.

I must be getting old . . .

Sorry, Joe.

I've never run a speed comparision between the PToolbox database function and PocketC's dbwritex/dbreadx, so I really couldn't comment on that. Though at least one individual mentioned that the PToolbox functions were much faster. However, Jeremy recently (v4.4) improved the performance of dbwritex... I don't know how much better it is though.

I would suggest writting your own benchmark test. It shouldn't be too hard. If you do craft an experiment and get numbers, please do let me know the results. I'd be curious.

Also, using a pilot-db format gives you the advantage of easily importing and exporting your database into CSV formated text files. Additionally, your can do global searches on your databases if you have the Pilot-DB app installed.

Joe

BTW: I finished off the coding for v7.5.0 last night, though it needs a bit more testing. And yes, it has the embeddable feature. :)
