I may have missed something somewhere, so if there's relevant documentation please point me to it!

I'm new to Pocket C, and trying to find an easy way of doing what on my old Psion was easy dialog stuff with built-in functions. Pocket Toolbox looks like the best answer in terms of usability - but it's *big*. Any software I release has always been freeware, so I'm not attracted to per-app costs.

There are smaller .prc's in the zip file called plugins, but I can't see any documentation on how to use them. Is there a way of using (say) just the forms-related bits of Pocket Toolbox without including the whole 90k+ file with every application?

Alternately, is there really no underlying OS call which will do the things which the standard Palm apps do automatically?

(I'm a semi-reluctant convert to PalmOS from EPOC, simply because my Psions have all died due to hardward faults and I want to see if a Palm will last longer and if I can get on with them well enough! One of the two biggest drawbacks of the Palm so far is the lack of a built-in onboard programming system...).

The iconized version of the library is freeware, you can include it along with your apps at no cost.

If you want to embed parts of the library (the Plugins you found) into the your application .prc there is a fee for that.

The plug-ins are used when the library is embedded inside an application. They allow users to shrink the memory footprint of the embedded library by including only the functional plug-ins they need. The use of plug-ins is described in the "PRC Embedding" section of the documentation.

The library makes many of the underlying Palm OS calls available to the PocketC user (that's what PocketC native libraries allow you to do). It also handles much of dirty support work for you too (such as making things work the same across all OS versions). Additionally, many of the functions, especially graphically related ones are not available in the PalmOS API at all.
