PToolbox compatability question

A PocketC native palm library offering native forms and assorted utilities

Postby Mikael on Thu Mar 24, 2005 10:21 am

Does anyone know of any compatability issues with PToolbox and Palm OS 5.2 and up? I've recently added a lot to an app I'm working on, and just thought I'd test it on hardware running 5.2. I got a fatal alert when I accessed two particular areas. Prior to this it ran fine on the same hardware, so I was just wondering whether or not one or more of the PToolbox or Fctl functions is to blame. It still runs fine on hardware running 4.1 and on the Simulator running 5.0 and 5.1. Also, I can't find anything relevant under 'Known Library Limitations' in the PToolbox docs. Looking at both areas that give the alert, the only new function which they both have in common is a 'Fctl(EHAND,simpleHandler);' Some thing must be very wrong, as when I try to install my app in the Simulator running 5.2, it causes it (and my PC) to freeze even before installation is complete.

In the meantime, I'll try adding some alerts to see if I can track down the source of the problem

Thanks in advance,

Mikael

No, I thingk the problem more than likely lies with my code. I seem to have tracked the source down to one of my own functions.

Hmm, the closet I can get to is that it looks as if something in 'Array()' is causing the problem. I'm creating them on the fly in the affected areas, and anytime I try to assign a value to a string variable from one, and use 'text(int x, int y, string variable or, string directly accessed from the array);' or alert(ditto), I get the fatal alert.

I'll try with malloc instead and see what happens.

Dumbo alert! :? Boy am I slow! :?
I still had PToolbox 7.61 on the handheld instead of the beta version, so it works fine on the handheld, though I still haven't tried the Simulator.
