I just wanted to know if PocketCLib will soon support the VFS (virtual file system).

I would like to write a porgram that can access lots of data (drawings,Pics) from the SD card in my palm505.

PocketClib? Isn't that the native library example which comes with PocketC? I don't know if that will, but the PToolboxLib might.

It's pretty complicated, at most I can see supporting VFS for OpenBmpDb, but there is a serious problem with doing that. When OpenBmpDb is called, all the bitmaps in the DB are opened and locked down, this permits very fast access for gaming purposes.

The problem with SD access is that the bitmaps have to be copied from SD space into the onboard ram to be accessed and there may not be enough space in the ram to hold all the bitmaps in the database. So when OpenBmpDb is called it will try to pull over al the images in the VFS database and move them into local ram, which may not have enough room.

The only viable solution would be to provide a new function which loads and draws bitmaps one at a time from VFS space. Possible, but not high on my list right now.
