Hi I have a bunch of records on my PalmOS device in an unprotected database (creator type is known) containing records with binary data. I would like to get the data out and backed up onto the PC, so I can examine it there. Is there a way to do this with having to write a conduit, using OrbForms or some utility?

Just set the backup bit on the databases and then do a hotsync. The databases will show up in your Backup folder on your desktop machine. I usually use RsrcEdit (http://www.quartus.net/products/rsrcedit/) to set backup bits and do other things to databases on the Palm.

perl -e 'print $i=pack(c5,(41*2),sqrt(7056),(unpack(c,H)-2),oct(115),10);'

Of course, you could also write a simple orbforms app to set the backup bit on the database as well... just have it do:

db = open("dbName",false);
db.backup = true;
db.close();

Then do your hotsync...

perl -e 'print $i=pack(c5,(41*2),sqrt(7056),(unpack(c,H)-2),oct(115),10);'

Thank you - I did not know it was that simple to do!
