I need a grid/table object (I have come from using CASL which has a grid object).

Anybody any ideas?

James, is this planned for in Orbworks 2.11??

The Grid is a tough loss from CASL, for sure. It turns out though it's easy to get around. There's at least one grid implementation via an OrbForms Add-In -- which I personally haven't figured out yet -- but it turns out I can get by without much effort. I tend to do grid like things via gadgets, which can detect pen up and down events, and Draws, which can put text in any color or font anywhere on the screen (including left justified *or * centered.) Tack on a scroll bar and you're there. I've been pretty productive with OrbForms thus far and have only scratched the surface of all that can be done.

Not much help other than some encouragement,

Thanks your response. I checked out your website and I note that you also developed using CASL.

I have changed from CASL as, in my opinion, Orbforms offers a better development language and IDE.

I tend to do a lot of synchronised database work and obviously a GRID is useful to me!

It would really help to know whether a grid object is planned by James Dewey.

If not, is there enough interest in the community to warrant developing a grid gadget for general consumption?

What do you think?

I have a very basic table gadget which still needs some work, but it's usable...

You can check out the "Enhanced Survey Form" at

Thanks your response. I have sent an email for your objectlib on your website.

I have a database oriented grid object very much in mind.

Still no feedback from James on this subject, or is he working on it!

Maybe it's because his name is Jeremy and not James. ;)

It does say in the help "Contents > Upcoming features" that tables will/may be added... But tables are pretty easy, so I'd prefer to see function pointers (which is listed as an upcoming feature), and object inheritance (which is not listed) to be done first.

Just curious, but I have sent emails to jims over the past year requesting the source code for the table gadget shown on his webpage. The last update shown on his webpage is nearly 3 years ago. He has not responded to any of my queries.

Did anyone else get a copy of the table gadget source code? I got the "new" survey source code, however it references the table gadget so will not compile without it.

Never mind.
