Has anyone played with StyleTap ( and OrbForms applications using a PocketPC?

StyleTap works really well, but some applications are not compatible. I have effectively used applications built with approaches to PalmOS development that are "more native" than OrbForms (for example apps I developed using PocketStudio), including PocketC and PToolboxLib.

However, my latest app, built using OrbForms fails on initialization with the message:

Runtime Error:
Addr: 2073
invalid global reference

Any ideas about what might be happening?

This is on initialization, before the main screen is drawn. I am a bit suspicious of the loading of the AppPrefs database, which I have made pretty large.

When I'm stumped with trying to figure out what global reference I have that works at compile time but not at run time, I'll sometimes stick one or more alerts in the routine that's blowing up. I try to use the alerts to narrow down the exact line of code that's blowing up. e.g. alert("Made it this far..."); and I keep moving it further down in the routine until the program blows up before I see the alert.

Maybe that would be helpful in your case to narrow down the offending line and then figure out what's failing in StyleTap.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion.

In fact, this was an application error rather than a StyleTap error. I had changed the AppPrefs database which was used to build data structures on initialization. I had not followed my own directions when upgrading on the StyleTap platform and was reading an old version of the AppPrefs database.

Shame on me.

Everyone should give StyleTap a look--it works really well, even on things like timers which I would have thought would be tough for accuracy.

I'm glad to hear that the software is working well under StyleTap. I've just began experimenting with it myself. Let me know if anything doesn't work correctly.
