Does anybody know if it is possible to access the saved preferences with PocketC?
I am looking for a better solution to save user-defined values than storing them in an extra .pdb.

You could try saving them in an existing database.

In one app I'm working on, I save different types of categories in the first three records, with the rest of the records containing the "actual" data.

As opposed to traditional databases, the records in the pdb files don't seem to need to be identical in format, including length. What I've tested so far seems to work, but if I'm wrong, someone let me know so I can redesign the app! <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Normally, when database files are created with "dbcreate" you have to delete them from the pocketC app to get rid of them... which is a pain, especially when a database holds an apps preference information.

However, if you create a database using "dbcreatex" and set its user id to be the same as your .prc app file, then when you delete the app, the database gets erased with it. (Databases created this way may also beam with their corresponding .prc files, but I don't have two PDA's to test this.)
