I have previously written several programs which use a small font in the screen display (these apps were written for pre Palm OS version 3.5 using a font hack program and Hackmaster). I now have a Treo and want to adapt these programs for use on the later Palm OS which does not allow hacks. I would like to find a way of using small fonts as the Palm font is too large and doesn't allow enough information on the screen. Any ideas? (answers in words of one syllable appreciated).

The OS doesn't allow this without a bit of trickery. PocketC does not support this sort of trickery.

Is it a *little* trickery or *a lot* of trickery? Care to expand on what can be done?

If I can recall my investigation years ago...
In theory (not tested), this would be done by creating an offscreen buffer at native resolution, but telling that OS that it was really standard resolution. Then drawing some text, re-marking the offscreen buffer back as native resolution, and copying to the screen.

Why not simply copy bitmap font letters to another screen then refer to each letter in terms of image coordinates?
