How to generate a help on PPCs?

Discuss PocketC for CE (including Desktop Edition)

Postby Thorsten Godau on Mon Aug 26, 2002 5:08 am

Hi all,

i wrote a program with PocketC and PCForm
and want to build a real help for it.
It seems that help-files are HTML-coded
with extensions htm or htp (e.g. PCForm).
It seems, that the help browser is the
PIE with a special layout.
My questions:
- what are the rules for the HTML-files to
appear in the right way?
- How must the help-browser be called in
PocketC (parameters...)?
- In which way my help must be registered to
appear in the contents of the help-browser?

TIA.
Best regards, Thorsten

htp files are just plain HTML files (almost) with a few exceptions:
- peghelp tags to separate sections, only the current section gets loaded (much faster than loading the full file)
- internal links MUST include the filename
- for internal links to work, the file must be in the \Windows directory
- to display the help file use the showhelp() command in PocketC

Make a search for the topic on the web board, there is much more information out there, or just dissect the help files of others (my porgrams for examples).
