Is there a easy way to create support for several languages, e.g by using resource files etc?
Reading the strings from a text file and assigning them to an array is easy, but not very nicein the code.

Even if you use a resource file you still have to read each string resource. The code would have a very similar structure to doing the same thing with a text file.

What I use in PocketC:

#define ENGLISH
//#define JAPANESE

#ifdef ENGLISH
#define STR_MENU_FILE "File"

#define STR_MENU_FILE "?Ü‚Äôt?Ü‚Äô@?Ü‚ÄôC?Ü‚Äô?¢‚Ǩ¬?"

My thinking was more to a system that avoids that I need to touch the code for every language. If the Strings are in an external file, someone else can do translation independently.

Need to think a bit more about that.
