Fullscreen Text Output

I'm working on a port of the classic text based game Angband to winCe using pocketC and I am having some trouble with the text output. The game needs a good refresh rate even though it's not real time and the method I've tried, printing text to the screen using the draw functions, was much too slow. Is there a way to use the console fullscreen and push single chars to it or another way to display fullscreen text?

How you can:

1. use the courrier new font because every characters are the sane size (i think you know that).
2. draw the text line by line. just make a string for a line and then text(0,linenumber*texth(); ... )

this should be really faster than calling the text() function for each char.
You can resize the console with wndmove() and 0 as control id, but it's not worth using the console because every char's have a different width and it's too slow to refresh too.
i have done a small program with a text mode. It was quite fast.
