Discuss PocketC for CE (including Desktop Edition)

Postby SteveT99UK on Sat May 12, 2001 11:59 am

i'm new to PocketC - well 24 hrs, am looking to download GPS data from logger to Aero 2130 unit. Currnetly have Laptop and Qbasic prog for this, but too slow when transferred to PPC with emulator. So looked at SERIAL.PC.
Line 9 - what is 'file:' for? and at end of code 'fileclose()'
WRITECHARS - seems to output character PLUS a null charcter to serial port, writebyte just outputs character
Problems in exitting the programme. have to reset full PPC unit. any suggestions? fileclose()??

Steve

I have my Cassiopeia E115 listening to my Garmin eTrex GPS using PocketC.

At the moment I have two programmes. One to extract and display the "exact" time, and the other to extract and display Lat and Lon.

However, there are many things that I still don't understand.

As far as logging the data is concerened it should be feasible, but it may be too slow for any real time processing.

For example, plotting your position on a moving map etc. In addition, PocketC's graphics capabilities are too crude for this at the moment, but there may be hope in this department for the future. Although such an application would probably be OK for walkers as it is.
