Discuss PocketC for CE (including Desktop Edition)

Postby wolfgang on Tue Jul 24, 2001 2:43 pm

Hello,

I know Guy has posted that in one of the old message boards, but I couldn't find it there anymore:

What command line parameter do I have to use to start multiple instances of the device compiler (V2)?

Thanks

Wolfgang

[-multisession] [-directxxx]
xxx can be run or build.

You can omit the [-directxxx] bit if you just want to load the file into pceditor for editing.

The important bit is the [-multisession] without it pceditor won't read its command line, so won't load the file at all, you just get whatever was there last time.

Thanks a lot for the answers.

Actually I do not use all this from within a program. What I needed it for is I want to be able to edit several source files at the same time on my HPC, without the need to load/save them whenever I need another one. Makes coding and dragging code from one file to another so much easier!

If anybody else wants to try this:
The multisession switch works fine. The only thing is, if you include it into your desktop shortcut, you must not put it into the quotation marks, but after them, e.g.

This works
Shortcurt: "\PocketC\PCEditor.exe" [-multisession]

But this won't:
Shortcurt: "\PocketC\PCEditor.exe [-multisession]"

A small inconvenience is the following: assume you compile your main file and there is an error in an included file. The compiler then automatically loads the offending include file. If you now edit it and save it, the editor will crash if you have this file open in another instance of PCEditor, and you lose your changes. (I am using the V2 device edition, not V3).

You could try my code editor / browser - edit as many files as you want seemlessly, everything is based on "objects" and object being a function, global variable, structure, etc.

I've got a new P/PC friendly version done, and will try to release it in the next couple days. Meanwhile the current version will work with PocketPCs and H/PCs perfectly and mostly work with P/PCs (you just loose the status bar).

Anyway check it out and give me your feedback:

Why don't you just try? :-) (takes about the same time as a posting...)

Thanks for reminding me about Rover Tony. I was thinking of buying a $50 editor to do some C++ coding on my new HPC but it's so simple & unsupported that I would be better off using your tool knowing the quality of your previous work I'm sure it's great but my Jornada 410 is at home so I will try tonight.

It certainly should work. PCForm uses it to compile programs through PCEditor. This works on V2 and V3.
