I have just embedded Ptoolbox and my program works fine on the Emulator -apart from a message about the unlock code which disappears if I press 'continue'. However, when I try it on the Simulator I keep receiving a 'fatal alert-PtoolboxLib.cpp #5' alert. Is this referring to the #5 alert in the 'Embedding' section of the docs meaning that string unlock code is not correct and that this is something which only occurs on real devices. If I remember correctly, the docs say that the unlock code is not required for testing. Is my only way around this to obtain the unlock code or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance,

To the best of my knowledge, the PalmOS Simulator doesn't provide any way for an app to detect if its running on the simulator (whereas the PalmOS Emulator has special detection hooks). As such, the PToolboxLib currently cannot be tested in an embedded fashion on the Simulator (it will however run on the Simulator if the external library is used). I'll refresh the PToolbox documentation to reflect this.

The error messages you are getting is caused by the embedded library finding that the unlock code is incorrect AND that it's not running on the emulator.

If your app runs with the library embedded on the Emulator and runs fine on the Simulator using the external library, you are pretty much guaranteed to have no problems when embedded on OS5.

The PToolboxLib guy.
