You can distribute your compiled program and the PocketC runtime. Look at the download page for PocketC for a link for the runtime files.

Here's one way:

1. Backup your program .prc (I use a free program called Filez from to do this.)
2. Create your icon files, see the demo's with BuildPRC (I just used windows paint to make the BMPs. To this point I haven't figured out how to make Color BMP's work as Icons with BuildPRC) Make sure your Icon BMP's are saved in 256 color BMP mode.
3. Make sure if you are going to distribute your software that you register a Creator ID from
4. Open BuildPRC, in the source field just browse to the backup directory on your computer (For a PC something like c:\program files\palm\palmname\backup)and select your program .prc file
5. In the source field browse to where you want your "new" .prc file to be stored on your computer and type the name of your "new" .prc file.
6. browse to Icon Files in the appropriate field.
7. Enter a version number and your registered Creator ID.
8. Hit the Generate button.

Next browse to the location of your "new" .prc and install it to your Palm like normal. Note that this method requires that the original program .prc file and pocket C still need to be installed for your program to run.

I don't know if you can embed pocket c and your original file into a single file or not but I hope this helps.

You have the wrong BuildPRC :). The one you want is on You will need to have the username/password you were given when you purchased PocketC in order to get there.

Also, PocketC Desktop Edition allows you to build a standalone .prc file (no runtime required) with color/high-density icons.
