Discuss PocketC for CE (including Desktop Edition)

Postby azahavi on Fri Jan 26, 2001 8:47 pm

I use the editor on the Jornada to write a small program, however, I'm not able to specify the correct path to the #include file.

The PocketPC Specification Language states that for the PocketPC one needs to specify the full path.
(?¢‚Ǩ?ìfor WinCE, include must contain the full path name. WinCE doesn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t support relative path?¢‚Ǩ

there are some special "character-combinations" for strings. For example \n for a newline, etc. look up the documentation.

\\ is a normal backslash

#include "storage card\\orbworks pocketC\\pcheader.h"

that should work, I think.

Thanks, it works.

Another element to the confusion is that file name suffixes using File Explorer do not show (e.g., *.h, and I could not find an option to turn it on.)

Thanks again,

Avi

That is a real problem to developers. I would like to see (and change) the suffixes myself - but I don't know how to show them in the file explorer. Maybe there's an registry entry.
You could also write an own explorer with PocketC.... It is possible.

yes, it is possible, but the problem is that you won't be able to extract all the icons for the files, it will be really too slow. I have just done a file dialog i can change it and add a rename functiun, it is realy easy, but the problem is that the fileenum() functiun is unstable on the PPC/PsPC and it crashes many, many times your program. Sometimes with no error message, sometime with a comlicated error message, like in Win32 the famous dialog with the "close" and the "details >>" buttons and with "program will be terminated".
I think the file system is different on HPC and on PPC, so they're a lot of bugs with file acces.
But you can download a lot of file explorers that are free or unlimited shareware. Just take a look at Ce4You

You mentioned Icons - does someone know how to set the icons for directories like for the game directory in CE 3.0?

You must create a shortcut to the icon you want to set to your folder, in the folder and calld icon.lnk
(ex: "\windows\ceshell.dll, -164" )

I haven't tried this, but using Justin's method, you can use any icon you've created (with Pike for instance <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>) by creating a Launch Pad launcher using that icon then point the link at the launcher.

ie. Use Launch Pad to make a launcher called "mylaunch.exe"

in the directory you want to have the icon changed for have a file "icon.lnk" which looks like: "\mylaunch.exe, -101"

Both Launch Pad and Pike can be found at http://www.onhiatus.com/Software

As I haven't actually tried this if someone does please let us know if it works!

Thanks, Tony ( OnHiatus in Calcutta for the next week or so)

Hi. I always use your launchers to asign icons to a file type.( you can dowload my program "associate" on http://www.outs4pda.cjb.net to do this. ) It works really fine and i can use ,0 too instead of , -101.

But I have checked the pocket PC folder icons on the iPaq of one of my friend, so i can't create launcher, because it's Strong Arm.
