Is it possible to create color/grayscales icon using PocketC Desktop Edition?

I do not believe so. However, you can still do it via other means.

The easiest way is to use RsrcEdit ( to draw & add color/gray bitmaps to the existing icons. Proceed to edit the icon and then touch the menu softkey to add other depth bitmaps. (You will be creating what is known as a bitmap family... a bitmap family has a bitmap for each depth... the bitmap with the appropriate depth will be drawn).

Here is another longer, more complicated procedure (but also a free one) for doing it (I've haven't done it but I know it will work):

1) Use PilRC ( to generate a bitmap family icon resource for the large & small icons from existing .bmp files. Use the ICONFAMILY command for doing this.

2) Use a tool like par ( to rip a .prc file into it's fundamental resource components (one component will be the large icon, another will be the small icon).

3) Then use par or similar tool to reconstruct the .prc, this time using the bitmap family icons rather than the plain ones orginally used.

Granted this path will take some learning and experimentation to get working. I do not recommend it for the beginner.

PilRC & par can be used to do other neat things, such create and cram 50 resource bitmaps into a .prc file at once, or even put a native libary into an applet .prc!

Good luck!
